iConvert Icons is a newly released Mac OS X app for converting and creating icons. While there are several apps available to convert images to icons, and a few others than convert icons to images, iConvert Icons bridges the gap – it can convert in both directions, images to icons, and icons to images. It can do all this quickly, using it’s automated batch conversion, and it can do so for less.

Price: $4.99
Developer: Mathew Eis

iConvert Icons has a very simple and intuitive interface; you can simple drop and drop icons, images, applications, and really any file (even folders with custom icons), and the output will be converted to one or more of the desired output formats. What makes this possible is the “auto-detection” feature, unique to iConvert Icons. This feature allows the program to determine the type of item dropped, and automatically choose the correct source for the input icon. This is especially useful for converting older Mac icon sets, where the icons are not always stored as image files – they might be files with custom icons, icns files, or even folder icons.

Another unique feature of iConvert Icons is support for SVG files. Unfortunately, it can’t convert TO SVG files, but it can convert most SVG files into icons or images. This makes many great SVG icons easily accessible for software development or web design. (Before, you had to download Inkscape, open the file, export as a PNG, edit with an image editor so it was the correct size, and finally convert the result to an icon.) With iConvert Icons, this takes a single step.

iConvert Icons is the perfect tool for developers, web designers, enthusiasts, and anyone else who might need to convert icons! Download it from the App Store today.

… once more thing. Not ready to make the plunge, or simply can’t afford it? The same developer behind iConvert Icons runs a free website by the same name [http://www.iconverticons.com/]. On the iConvert Icons website, you can do all the same things, but only one icon at a time.

SproutConverter is an indispensable program to use in combination with iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or any other video transferring program to batch clean your digitized VHS, Hi8, 8mm, Video8, miniDV tapes, and more, to remove video distortion, video noise, blank spaces, and static.

Price: 29.99
Developer: Gear Sprout

No longer will you have to painstakingly edit your home movies and videos to remove distortion caused by wear and tear on your old video library. The cleaned versions can be saved in many popular video file formats and SproutConverter automates the entire process. SproutConverter works by comparing your video to a library of specifically chosen movie and video distortion filters. Advanced users may also specify particular frames in their videos for SproutConverter to use as additional examples of distortion.
